Type-O Typeface
Type-O is a variable font consisting of pixels put together or apart. The experiment with the variable axes was part of a summer course 2020 at Beckmans College of Design during the beginning of the pandemic. The typeface itself was supposed to be a comment on information/desinformation, communication in times of crisis and the letterform’s meaning in everyday media (such as newspapers, social media etc).
The actual result was Type-O, a typeface that can easily be manipulated and create chaos in its inreadability – or work as a chiffer, where one can learn the more abstract forms of the letters.
My focus was the distruptiveness as well as learning more about the functions behind variable fonts.
